Resolved Question: Will Rich Rodriguez be given the opportunity to turn the Michigan Wolverines football program around?

3 October 2008, 3:47 pm

There are grumblings and mumblings from some fans, alumni, & U of M hierarchy about Coach Rodriguez's style & brand of football. Those opposed say that they want the old style of Big Ten football to be played. In my opinion Wolverine football must change and adapt to the times. The old Big Ten style of football can't compete against the SEC or Pac 10. I say keep Coach Rodriguez should be allowed to do his job. FANatic - Great comment about Al Davis style ball. I was going to mention something like that in my additions but didn't. Thanks for adding that. As for his team. Yes, he does have a mix of Carr taught players and His own young guns. It will take time before the majority of the team are pure RichRod style players. And, I do agree that if he scores a great QB or heck of a RB. It can only help him and the team. Once the spread offense is in full effect. OSU won't know what hit them and the sweater vest will bite the big one. GO BLUE !!! Wow, a lot of great answers so far. Both pro & con. More intelligent answers to this question then I've seen from many other questions on this site. NeoKakarott023 - I like the way you're thinking there. Poole1Dan - If you fire RR & his staff now. It will do more damage to Michigan then you think. The U of M has the best winning percentage of any college football team in the history of college football. And, they have more wins then any other team in the history of college ball. I also can't believe that you're comparing RR to Callahan. Callahan was a failure with the Oakland Raiders. Then he moved to Nebraska and ran that program into the ground. He & RR have totally different styles & teaching methods. The reason why he has those rookies on the field is to imprint his system into their brains. So, that next year they will be better & so on. We (Michigan fans) knew that this would be a difficult season. The loyal fans aren't fair weather fans. Have Faith & Pride in the Maize & Blue.... read more
